Happy Birthday PT Usha

The full name of PT Usha is Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha. She was born in Payyoli, Kerala. She was born on June 27, 1964.The great journey of PT Usha started in a small village in Kerala, and due to her dedication, hard work, commitment, she has achieved many milestones at the international level. She participated in her first international competition at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

She was awarded the Padmashree and Arjuna awards the Padmashree and Arjuna awards in 1985.

PT Usha is contributing to the upliftment and progress of athletics. She started the Usha School of Athletics in 2002 in Kerala to motivate and train upcoming athletes. PT Usha, also known as ”queen of Indian track and field,”. Since her school days, she has shown great interest in athletics. Firstly, she participated in the national school games, where she set a national record. PT Usha won various medals in Asian competitions as well. She announced her retirement from athletics in 2000.

1982 Asian Games (New Delhi): silver medals in 100 meters and 200 meters.

1983 Asian Championships: Gold in 400 meters (new Asian record).

1984 Los Angeles Olympics: fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles.
